About Shishila

Shishila is a Village in Beltangadi Taluk in Dakshin Kannada District of Karnataka State, India. It has a beautiful Shiva Temple. It is believed that the idol, in the form of a Linga, surfaced on its own and was never established by anyone (Udbhava Linga). The temple is on the banks of the river Kapila (a small river which later merges with Netravati). This place is also referred to as Matsya Theertha. Fishes are found in huge numbers in the Kapila river.

The fishes in the Kapila river are believed to be sacred. Naivedyum is offered to fishes after performing Pooja.

Shishileshwara is also called a fish temple. Sunset is one of the attractive scenes you can experience here from the hanging bridge.
